About this event

  • 2 hours

Our next event will take place on Monday 29 April at Golden Tulip at 20:00 CET!
Join us for a night of astronomy with two fantastic talks from Csilla Orgel and Sarah Boazman, who will tell us about lunar missions and the best sites for the landing of next ESA and NASA missions.

As always, there will be fun games where you could win cool science prizes!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

- Csilla Orgel: "Searching for accessible landing sites with possible water-ice deposits for future robotic exploration missions"

Csilla is a planetary geologist and remote sensing expert. She joined HE Space as an Exploration Science and Research Support Scientist at ESTEC. She is originally from Hungary, where she conducted her Bachelor’s in Earth Sciences in Budapest and obtained her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Planetary and Geological Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin in Germany. Csilla worked as a Research Fellow on planetary surface exploration missions (ExoMars Rosalind Franklin Rover, Mars Sample Return, PROSPECT) to the Moon and Mars at ESA ESTEC.

- Sarah Boazman: "Goldilocks landing site: Not too dark, and not too warm, but just right"

Sarah is a research fellow at ESA ESTEC, whose research focusses on surface analysis of planetary bodies, currently working on landing site assessment of the lunar south pole. Prior to her current role, she completed her PhD jointly studying at the Natural History London and the University college London in the UK. Her PhD research investigated the migration rate of sand dunes across Mars and how the environment, particularly topography, effected the migration rate.
